This font is our humble tribute to honor the legacy of Sultan-ul-Qaum Singh Sahib Nawab Jassa Singh Ji Ahluwalia, 96 Krori Panth Patshah Ji 🙏
- Rise to Sikh leadership and state founder:
- Born on 3 May 1718 in Ahlu (near Lahore), Jassa Singh Ahluwalia emerged as Misldar of the Ahluwalia Misl and, in 1753, was appointed supreme leader (Jathedar) of both the Dal Khalsa and the Akal Takht; he went on to establish the princely Kapurthala State in 1772
- Military campaigns and capture of Delhi:
- A formidable commander, he co‑led the Dal Khalsa in March 1783 to capture Delhi—entering the Red Fort and briefly enthroning himself as “Badshah Singh” before renouncing the honor—and secured agreements to build several Sikh gurdwaras in the Mughal capital
- Enduring legacy and commemoration:
- His descendants ruled Kapurthala until India’s independence, and his memory is honored by institutions such as the Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia Government College (established 1856) in Kapurthala and a commemorative postage stamp issued by India on 4 April 1985
